Using a Spanish Verb Conjugator

To practice Spanish verbs you need a good Spanish verb conjugator. I'm not talking about one that just gives you the conjugations of the desired verb, I'm talking about a conjugator that will help you improve your conjugations through doing verb drills.

This is an important part of your practice as we need to focus our studying on as much spoken Spanish as possible. Doing exercises online or in your Spanish books is a great way to start, but to really improve you need to use a conjugator that you can fully interact with.

Make sure that the conjugator that you choose has audio and is fully customizable; you want to be able to set up the verb drills to target the verbs and tenses that you struggle with the most. Doing verb drills is probably the most effective way that you can improve your ability to conjugate verbs. And we all know that a big part of learning Spanish is learning how to effectively conjugate verbs.

What this type of Spanish verb conjugator really does is improve your ability to conjugate verbs on the spot. Being able to conjugate verbs as part of an exercise won't help you when you are having a natural conversation and need to go from verb to verb, tense to tense and subject to subject. That is why you need to do this type of practice verbally. Doing it verbally will mean that you practice this type of conjugation verbally.

General Spanish Learning

In our last post we talked about how to practice Spanish verbs. We highlighted that it's important to focus on speaking while learning Spanish verbs. This type of Spanish verb conjugation practice really helps in terms of being able to form the correct verb conjugation while in a conversation. Today we're going to have a look at how to learn Spanish in a more general way.

Spanish verb conjugation practice is something that you must include as part of your learning. In addition to this you must improve your vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar in general, as well as your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. There are lots of things to learn and practice when starting to learn Spanish.

One of the best ways to get started is with a course that focuses on your listening and speaking. Because of this, an audio course or some software that has lots of audio is the best way forward. These courses are very effective because they make sure that you are using your Spanish right from the start. A lot of other courses don't give much time to listening and speaking which results in students being able to read and write very well. But as we have discussed in other posts, most people are looking for ways to be better communicators.

This is not to say that reading and writing isn't important. Writing is a great way to bridge the gap between understanding and speaking. When writing you have more time to think about the construction of sentences, what vocabulary is best for what you need to say, and the conjugations of the verbs. It is also a really important skill in its own right.

To make sure that all of the skills are covered, you should spend time doing lots of different things. Read books, write letters, speak with friends, listen to Spanish radio. This type of learning makes sure that you're not relying on one skill. It's important to do things that are specific to your level, and don't start with real Spanish as you're just going to confuse yourself.

So, as well as Spanish verb conjugation practice, there are lots of other things to do to improve your overall Spanish.

Spanish Verb Conjugation Practice

When thinking about the best ways to practice conjugating Spanish verbs, most students instantly think of verb tables and exercise books. The repetitive conjugating of verbs in a written format can get a little tedious. Have a look at the following video of how to conjugate "ser" in the preterite:

Now after learning the conjugations the next stage would be to do some exercises. This is great for initial practice but it doesn't help in terms of being able to conjugate a verb instantly when speaking. To really learn how to conjugate verbs you need to be able to do Spanish verb conjugation practice while speaking, or while doing some verb drills that mimic speaking situations.

The first obvious way that comes to mind is to just put yourself out there and speak. When you're speaking you're constantly conjugating, and if you're constantly conjugating, you're constantly practicing. There is some danger that the practice you undertake isn't perfect practice as you aren't focusing on certain verbs or tenses and instead are getting some good general practice.

To really target specific verbs and make some rapid improvements then you need to get a conjugator to do some verb drills. This is my favorite type of Spanish verb conjugation practice as it is both very effective and a lot of fun at the same time. Finding a conjugator with audio is so important and this must be at the top of your list when it comes to purchasing one. There are free options available but these make the practice just like doing exercises in a book.

I hope this post has helped you in terms of giving you the ability to go away and do some great Spanish verb conjugation practice.
